Mindful Shower Meditation
5 Minute Shower = New Possibilities
Five minutes is all it takes to set your mind for the day.
For those who make it a practice to meditate each day this is not foreign. But
to the busy people who forget to take a few minutes to stop and be mindful,
there is a simple technique to adopt this proven eastern practice.
Did you know that you could change your whole day in a 5 minute shower? It's an amazing opportunity to set the course of your day, to breed success and fulfillment in your life. This activity requires one to take a mindful shower that will take a long time by paying attention to many things during the duration of it. Most people take a shower each day, and since we are so accustomed to it, it has become a routine for us, and we often do not notice this small moment of opportunity. One day, when you are not rushing to take a shower and get somewhere, take a little bit of extra time out to take a mindful shower.
Shower.
I believe water is a part of our soul. The ancients believe
it is a sentient being. Water has a distinct smell, feeling and sound. It makes
a distinct noise, but since we are so used to hearing it, we probably tune it
out. During the mindful shower, listen closely to the water and realize what it
reminds you of, and how it makes you feel. Try closing your eyes and realizing
what the sound reminds you of or where it transports you to.
Breathe.
Paying attention to your breathing is essential to life. It
focuses, calms and brings you into the present moment. Pay close attention to
your breaths and make them soothing – This can be done by either making them
shorter or longer.
Change.
Paying close attention to all of these details will make
your shower seem longer than usual, but I assure you that a mindful shower will
be the first step to new possibilities.
