Put to the test

"When the tempter comes to you..."

So I've been ranting about how my change in my thinking (focusing on the present moment) has been life-changing. I had a major test of it's effectiveness this week. When your job and reputation are put on the line, it's very easy to "switch" on the horrors of anything and everything can go wrong - that is the battle in the mind. Well my job put me to the test this week. I was launching a 6 month production of our web site, www.loftware.com. The day of the launch, some minor things went wrong. Which is to expected. At least expected from those who understand the the task at hand. But a hornets nest started to get stirred by noon and I was sitting there with the temptation to resign. Of course, I knew that was a frivolous approach to the problem, nonetheless the temptation was there anyway. I wasn't so much reacting to the problems as much as the reactions of others. Office politics are bothersome. And I loathe them because they're ALWAYS one-sided. Co-workers I helped with sales pitches were now freaking out.

Anyway, it took a lot of focus, and energy, but I had to steer my mind into the present moment and not react on my fears. It was difficult, but I was triumphant. Within hours, my mind had settled and the week was smooth. The art of living int he present moment granted me yet another victory.

"Do not worry about tomorrow, today has enough trouble of its own. [insert here, Jesus] Just focus on the now and you will find the peace of God that transcends all understanding"
